Bosch Season 2 Review and Analysis

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

In this video or blog, I will be reviewing and analyzing Bosch Season 2. I will go over several topics in this review. If you want to know more, then you want to watch this video or read this blog.

Hello everyone, Matthew Hemenway here. In this video, I will be reviewing and analyzing Bosch Season 2 currently on Amazon Prime. If you did not see my video that I released on March 14, 2022, where I reviewed Titans Season 2, I thanked you for helping me reach 1,000 subscribers on this channel and still need help to get to 4,000 watch hours on this channel. I also set a new goal of this channel of reaching 2,000 subscribers on this channel. 1 of my 1st mini goals is to reach to 1,250 subscribers. I will also be setting up a page where you can help support the channel down the road. Now on with the review.

The 2nd season of Bosch starts off with Tony Allen getting killed and being left in his trunk. It later takes the viewer to Harry Bosch running outside near his house. He later talks to his daughter Maddie on Skype with his smart phone. She tells him to shave his beard off as that he looks like a hobo. She told him to lose the sideburns. After he shaved it off, as Maddie told him, he looked several years younger. She is right in that the beard made him look old.

The case of Tony Allen’s murder has twists and turns. George Irving who is the Deputy chief’s son is in IA to expose corrupt police officers who have been taking matters in their own hands killing gang members, robbing them of money as protection money. In this sense they have been committing exhortation. George is working undercover as he is trying to get up in the ranks in command.

George was partnered with Eddie Arceneaux who is 1 of the corrupt police officers but is not the main guy. As the viewer will find out later in the 5th episode of this season, it is Carl Nash who is the brains of the operation. He has 2 other police officers on his side, called Riley and O’Grady.

The other connection to this is the Armenians working for the Russian Mob. As anyone would know, you would not want to mess with Bratva. The Bratva is like the Triad in that they are both vicious and you would not want to cross them. The 1 leading the Armenians is Joey Marks, who is the main mob boss for the Armenian mob who is working for the Bratva.

There is 1 man under cover named Luke Rykov, but he goes by Lucky Rykov and is played by Matthew Lillard. It is very ironic he played Shaggy Rogers in Scooby Doo and is now in this show as an undercover FBI agent. He and Bosch have a rocky start, but they eventually down the road as the series will show, they become friends.

The main FBI special agent Jay Griffin who is played by John Marshall Jones who was the dad in Smart Guy and is tasked with finding out the connection between the Bratva, Joey Marks, and their lead up to the possibility of Isis and Al Quida being on American soil. His goal is to prevent the next 9/11 from happening.

Veronica Allen who is the widow of Tony Allen was a prostitute and is far from innocent in this. She wants the money that is left to her and wanted to get it back. She wants to get the money by any means necessary and is willing to kill for it.

Tony Allen was laundering money for the Bratva as well as the Armenian mob through Bearer Bonds which is used for laundering money for tax evasion and other illegal activities.

George Irving unfortunately is found out by the corrupt police officers and is killed by them, and Deputy Chief Irving decides to have Bosch investigate it. He knows that Bosch is relentless and wants to get to the truth and does not care what it will take to get to it.

As the viewer knows, Richard O’Shea was the DA who allowed Reinard Waites to escape from Bosch and the other detectives that were there on that little field trip of theirs. Irvin Irving was endorsing him for Mayor. Mayor Hector Ramas is the current mayor and Richard O’Shea’s opponent and he later in the season decides to promote Irvin Irving as the next chief of police.

There is a shoot out of everyone wanting to go after the money in the 8th episode of this season. There was a line, follow the money. It is a very poignant statement, as following the money is what brought down Al Capone. All the police officers except for O’Grady die as well as lot of the Armenian mob die there as well. It reminds me of Enemy of the State in how both the mob and the corrupt government officials mostly die in that shoot out.

The season ends with Carl Nash being killed by Bosch and Jay Edgar. It sets up season 3 with the viewer wandering if the 1 who killed Bosch’s mother is dead. That question will be answered in season 3.

I give Bosch Season 2, a 10 out 10. I thought it was well done and like the 1st season gives you the feel of a crime drama. I will look forward watching season 3 again and giving my review and analysis of that down the road.
