Star Wars The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 4 Review and Analysis on Disney+

Updated: Jan 24, 2023

Description: Review and Analysis of Star Wars Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 4 currently on Disney+ done by Lucas Film. I will go over several topics in this blog or this video. This will deal with racing that is like pod racing that was shown in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. It was hustlers, scoundrels, and gamblers in this episode. I also pull in a comparison to horse racing in this blog or video. If you like fast racing, gamblers, scoundrels, or hustlers, then you want to read this blog or watch this video included in this blog.

Hello everyone, welcome to the Matta critic. This is Matthew Hemenway. In this episode of Matta Critic, I will be reviewing and analyzing Star Wars Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 4 that is currently on Disney+ done by Lucasfilm. I will go over several topics and point out several Easter eggs in this episode. I will give you my rating at the end of this episode. I hope this episode inspires to Read, Watch, and Learn. What Season 2 Episode 4 does is pick up where Episodes 1 to 2 left off. The name of this episode is Faster. This episode will have Wrecker, Omega, and Tech to help Cid with racing that involves blasters, dangerous tunnels, and there are no rules as in anything goes. I will give you my rating at the end of the review.

Please consider checking out my Facebook page to get links and check out the posts from YouTube, TikTok and Patreon. Speaking of Facebook, I have been posting videos coming soon for YouTube and Patreon. I also have been posting videos coming soon for YouTube in the community section of my YouTube channel. I have been posting links to my blog on my Facebook page, that you would want to check out at www.mattacritic.com/blog. The blog will have the written portion of the review as well as the YouTube video included there. Now on with the review.

As I mentioned before, Wrecker, Omega, and Tech will have to help Cid with racing that has no rules attached to it. As mentioned before, this race will be anything goes. This type of racing is like a death race. You must race with your wits and be willing to race dangerously. This is like Motor ball which is extremely dangerous, and you must be at your wits. This was shown in Alita: Battle Angel

Cid introduces Wrecker, Omega, Tech to Tay-O. Tay-O is a droid who races. As they all find out that Tay-O is good, but he does consider strategy and thinks that analyzing the course is a waste of time. As Tech was noticing with track, they need to look at all the angles. He notices with the tunnel that everyone wants to avoid. It is the one on the left, it is the shortest tunnel.

Tay-O will lose the race to Gilgal Malig nay that Cid bets against. This person has known Cid a long time. This person knows that Cid was a hustler and believes her to be a hustler still. Cid is what a person would call a scoundrel. She is like Han Solo or Landa Cari Lesean. Both Han and Lando were Hustlers. They were smugglers and gamblers like Cid. Omega says to Gilgal Malig nay, they will race the next day to pay off the debt. He agrees to that.

Tech must repair Tay-O to get him ready for the race. Tay-O is telling Tech that analyzing the track will not win the race, only strategy and skill will win the race. Tech says we need to look at a new tactic. Tay-O writes Tech off, saying this will not work. Tay-O gets run over by a race vehicle. One wonders if it is on purpose or an accident?

Tech must race against Malig nay’s racer. Tech gets the speeder ready. Tech races in an unorthodox style. He decides to start off in last place. Wrecker is telling him; this does not make sense as you cannot win if you are in last place. It does make sense, there are horses that like to start off slow because they need to see the eyes of the other horses. Once they do, they will get faster as the race progresses. A good example is the movie Sea Biscuit. Tech’s strategy is working to everyone’s surprise and amazement.

Tech drops off the weapons which makes no sense, but it allows him to be faster as it means he is not carrying as much weight. He ends up going down the tunnel that everyone usually avoids, but it works as it makes him able to catch up to the other racers. He uses the trap of the other racers to box him work. As they plan to do their horrible thing, he manages to get out of the way. They end up crashing, and this helps him to win the race.

As not to be revealed, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of this episode and set up Season 2 Episode 5.

I will now give you, my rating. I give Star Wars the Bad Batch, Season 1 Episode 4, a 10 out 10. It was fun. It was good to see the racing element of Star Wars in this episode. This reminds the viewer of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace which dealt with pod racing. That movie deals with this type of racing that the viewer saw in this episode. It was fast, but the racers tend to play without any rules. Anything goes. In that movie, one of the racers named Sebulba takes a part out of Anakin Skywalker’s ship, and it makes it difficult for him to race. Anakin ends up winning and that was like this episode in that he had to come through on a bet. It also has the Alita Battle Angel feel to it as well and that racing was called Motor Ball. That racing in that movie was fast and dangerous like what the viewer saw in this episode.
