In this episode of Matta Critic. I will be reviewing and analyzing Star Wars Andor Season 1 Episode 8 that is currently on Disney+ done by Lucasfilm. I will go over several topics in this episode. I will give you my rating at the end of this episode. The name of this episode is Narkina 5. Now on with the review.

The episode starts off with Cassian Andor getting processed by the Empire as his identity that he has assumed. As the description of the episode tells the viewer, the Empire is not aware of who he really is. He has been picked up for a crime he did not commit. They arrested him for anti-imperial speech. This is what I would have told you that he was arrested for the craziest of crimes. This is not what you get to do if you are in an authoritarian government. You are not allowed to question their authority; you are considered a traitor if you dare say anything against them. A democracy is not perfect, but you can question the leadership that is there.

Cassian Andor is going to prison that is using the prisoners as slaves and using them to build the equipment the Empire uses. As a slave, you have no rights, and you do not get paid. You do not get any say in what you get to do. Andy Serkis is in this episode, he is Cassian Andor’s overseer. He has a few days to get out of this prison. The guy Andy Serkis plays tells Cassian, make sure you get your work done. You do not want to finish last; it will be bad.

As was shown in this episode, the Empire uses an implant that can shock a prison, and if they have it at a certain frequency, they can kill that person. They also have the floor heated at night to keep people from escaping. Before Cassian got there, they had all the prisoners on the transport ship take off their shoes. They walk around barefoot, and it makes sense to do this. If you do not have your shoes, it will make it harder for an individual to escape.

Dedrea Meera is obsessed with finding Cassian Andor and trying to figure out the link that he has with the part who stole from the Empire. Cassian killed two corporals that Syril Kahn oversaw. She asked him questions and what was in the report. As Syril told Dedrea that he was forced to sign the report by Lt. Blevins. He had no choice. She had him read it and he told her that everything was not there.

Moth Mothma is meeting with Taye, her friend from the bank. As was shown in the last episode, she knew Taye a long time. She needed his help in moving her money around. Moth Mothma gets told by Taye that the Empire is looking closely at this. Moth tells Taye that we need to be careful. Everyone that Moth Mothma is talking to says, what Emperor Palpatine is doing is necessary to protect us. Moth asks, is it? They quote that it is for security is false and innocent people can be thrown into prison as an excuse for the Empire to have its own set of slaves as I mentioned before in this review.

Bix Caleen tries to contact Luthan Rael, but the woman who is with him tells him, you need to shut down the communication channel. She reminds Luthan that we cannot risk exposure. Luthan realizes that she is right and shuts down the communication channel. It was a hard decision, but necessary.

As not to reveal anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of this episode and set up episode 9. It has a certain person that showed up in Rogue One as well. You know who he is if you saw Rogue One. If you know who showed up in this episode, please leave your answer in the comment section below. Thank you.

I will give you, my rating. I give Star Wars Andor, a 10 out 10. It was fun but shows the nature of war as well as how far an authoritarian government is willing to go to stay in power. It has the realistic feel of war, and it helps the viewer to see what sacrifices must be made to win the war. It does an excellent job of pulling from current events of what you see today of arresting people for no reason at all. It has the Saving Private Ryan feel that I talked about earlier. The use of slaves in a prison was an effective way for the Empire to get free workers and not to have to pay them. They use the excuse of these crazy laws to arrest people and throw them in prison so they can get free labor. If anyone thinks their lives are better in an authoritarian government, then that person has lost their minds. This episode shows otherwise. The prison on Narkina 5 reminds me of Alcatraz prison and the prison that was seen in Captain America: Civil War. Yes, this prison is over water like those two prisons were and would have been extremely hard to escape. Alcatraz prison was over chilly water and if a person jumps in that water, it would be very chilly water and would have to swim several miles to get back to shore. The prison in Captain America Civil War is no different. This is what made the episode good as well. It made it fun to watch.
