Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 3 Review and Analysis on Disney+

Hello everyone, Matthew Hemenway is here. In this video or blog post, I will be reviewing and analyzing Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 3 that is currently on Disney+ done by Marvel Studios. I will go over several topics such as if it does an excellent job of connecting to the comics and pulling from other movies from the MCU. I will also point out several myths and legend about the Jinn that is said in this episode. Now on with the video or blog post.

The episode starts off with a flashback to British occupied India in 1942. This story was told after Kamran with his mother Najma rescued Kamala from getting arrested from Damage Control that was shown in the last episode. As was pointed out in the last episode, there was no Pakistan, India, it was all Bangladesh as told by Kamala’s father. As her mother said in the last episode, the British left that area in Southeast Asia in a mess. Kamran’s mother tells Kamala that she is of the Jinn. The Jinn according to legend are Genies or are remarkably like Evil Demons. They also can be people of interdimensional beings. This means they come from another dimension. I would have told you this recently in my Stolen Kingdom reviews that I have done that the Jīns in that book come from another world. In the Jinni Key, Gideon needed Rena to give him the key to get back home. I will leave a link to that playlist at the bottom of this video. In those books, the Jīns do come from another world and do live amongst us. Najma tells Kamala when they were looking for the bracelet to go back home. This is what happened to Kamala’s Great Grandmother. This is the image of what happened that Kamala sees.

Damage Control shows up at Kamala’s Mosque looking for her. They do not know that they are looking for Kamala, but they know they are looking for a teenage girl that looks like a brown girl. As Nakia says to the female agent of Damage Control, you need a warrant to search here. She was quoting from the code of the U.S. constitution. She said she learned that from Law and Order. The one who runs the Mosque says, please come back with a warrant and please take off your shoes. As was shown in the last episode, Kamala and Nakia take off their shoes when they go in the Mosque. It is a custom of cultures in that part of the world. When I took Tae Kwon Do, there was a similar thing like a in the Mosque where you take off your shoes and put them in the case. You do not walk on the Dojang floor with your shoes. The same thing in the Mosque, it was the idea to keep the floor clean and a lot of dirt come on your shoes. The agents leave in disgust.

Nakia tells Kamala that Damage Control showed up looking for Night Light. Night Light, as they both agree, is a dumb name. Kamala told Bruno earlier when she asked him for help with the bangle. As Kamala told Bruno before, Night Light sounds like a name a 5-year-old would produce. Nakia tells Kamala that she won and is now on the Board of the Mosque. Kamala agrees with her that is good news. I would agree as well.

Kamala talks to Bruno and needs his help with the bracelet that is called a bangle. Bruno tells her that he will help her. Bruno tells her that he got to Cal Tech. That was the question that I asked you in a previous review of this series. Bruno got helped from Kamala’s Dad to translate the document he was reading. It was in Herde. It mentioned the Jinn and he was able to help Bruno know what it said. Bruno told him to do this trip to this other world, you need to use the sun. You realize that it would be dangerous. Kamala agrees with him. Kamala tells him if Carol Danvers were here, she would punch a hole in the universe to do what it takes. Bruno tells her that it is a good thing you are not her. You would look at the option that makes sense.

Kamala’s parents are talking with everyone as they get ready for the wedding. The wedding will happen soon for Aamir as shown in the first episode and second episode, Aamir is getting married. Sheikh Abdullah told her when she asked him, do you think Night Light is trouble and his answer is, I do not. Ask the kid, she helped. Kamala asks, how does she prove she is good? He tells her, being good, is not saying it, it is what you do that makes you good. It goes back to the old idea, that actions speak louder than words. You see the southeastern Asian dress they wear. To me, it is remarkably interesting, and Kamala looked beautiful in her outfit. The wedding looked fun. Sheikh Abdullah married both Aamir and Tyesa. It was cool to see a wedding like that in a major production like this.

Kamran comes in and tells Kamala that his mother with her crew is coming and they will not care who they hurt. They want her to use the bangle no matter what happens. Kamala has no choice but to pull the fire alarm to protect everyone at the wedding. Kamala did not want any collateral damage. Believe me, if I were in Kamala’s position, I would have done the same thing to save lives. You are better off getting people out of the line of fire. You do not want any people hurt or dead on your conscience, if you know there is something you can do to save lives. A hero does what is right not what is easy.

As not to be spoiled anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of this episode and sets up Episode 4.

I give Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 3, a 10 out 10. I thought it did an excellent job of building off the previous two episodes. I liked the fact that Nakia knew who Damage Control is. I thought it did an excellent job of having Kamala telling her parents she cannot tell them what is going on. She wants to protect them and is afraid they will get hurt if they know. This is no different than when Peter Parker did when he was trying to protect Aunt May by not letting her know what was going on. I am sure there are those who would say that is selfish, but life is complicated and there are never any easy answers. As Nakia said when Damage Control showed up, all the Muslim community needs is someone claiming that we are not reporting on their own. This happened when you have those running for Public Office claiming this to win votes using a certain group as a scapegoat. It is unfortunate and disgusting.
