In this video and blog post; I will be reviewing and analyzing MECH-X4 Season 1 that is currently on Disney+ originally that came out on Disney XD. I will go over several topics in this video. I will let you know my rating at the end of this video. Now on with the review.
MECH-X4 is a robot that needs 4 people to operate it. It requires a technopath, a mechanic, a scientist, and a gunner who is good at video games. The 4 people that operate this robot are Ryan Walker, Harris, Spider, and Mark Walker. Ryan Walker is the technopath, Harris is the scientist, Spider is the gunner, and Mark Walker is the mechanic. Each person is important to help the robot do what it must do. The robot’s main purpose is to fight monsters.
In the first episode, Ryan Walker finds out that he is a technopath like Royal Pain was in Sky High. Royal Pain could control technology with her mind like Ryan Walker can. Ryan Walker, Harris, and Spider discover this robot MECH-X4 in a garage that is hidden. They discover the robot and goof off at first, but then find out they need to fight monsters. They later realize that they need a mechanic, and they get Mark Walker, Ryan’s brother to help them. They defeated the monster that was attacking the school.
As the season progresses, the four high school kids learn that they need to stop terrible people that want to use monsters to destroy people. They realize they are going against people who believe that if we kill people off, we can get rid of people that are polluting the Earth and start the world off again with a fresh start. This reminds me of the Inventor in Ms. Marvel Generation Why, where he thought if he can get rid of people, we can save the planet from climate change. This is not humane. As I would have said in that review, there must be a better way to help save the planet.
The 4 kids must go through high school. Mark Walker is the athlete, and he plays basketball, football, baseball, and any other sport you can think of. Mark is the popular kid, and his best friend Dane can be a jerk. Dane likes to play pranks on people. Dane needed to be taught a lesson later in this season. Ryan and Spider must scare him to realize that he cannot bully everyone. Ryan and Spider use the robot to scare him.
The 4 kids realize that Leo has been taken by someone in Harper Futuristics. Principal Gray was a plant at the high school to just get to the ooze that is under the school to create the monsters. There is a volcano that has the ooze that creates the monsters, but they go to the volcano and force Principal Gray to destroy the volcano.
The 4 kids realize that it is getting serious, and they understand from Principal Gray that the main villain wants to destroy humanity to save the planet. This guy who is connected to Harper Futuristics is behind this and wants to create a utopian society. It is fine, but killing people is not the answer. There must be a better way to do this.
Ryan later realizes that he is adopted and wonders if Mark will still be his brother. He lets his emotions get the better of him that he costs Mark and the school the basketball game. Mark later tells him that you need to let that go. He told him, you are my brother and Walkers do not lose. Ryan gets his head back in the game and is ready to do whatever he must do.
The 4 kids realize they need to save Leo from being put in an underwater prison in the ocean. It is several feet underwater. They must use MECH-X4 to rescue Leo and get him. It is important for the 4 kids to do this as they will need Leo to help them to fight for what they must encounter.
The main bad guy is at Harper Futuristics. The word Futurist is a word that has been used several times. Hawkeye in Captain America: Civil War called Tony Stark, the futurist. A futurist can be good or bad depending on the situation. In this case, it is bad when this guy in Harper Futuristics wants to do what he plans to do.
As not to spoil it, anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of Season 1 and set up Season 2.
I will now give you, my rating. I give MECH-X4, a 10 out of 10. It was fun and did an excellent job of telling a story. It does an excellent job of pulling from Sky High with the technopath. It pulls from Power Rangers with the monsters and from Voltron. Both Power Rangers and Voltron had robots that fought monsters. The technopath came from Sky High. The word Futurist has been mentioned in other texts such as in Captain America: Civil War. This makes this especially good, when you can pull from these other stories, but this series has its own unique style.
