The season starts off with Layne Reed running for school president of her middle school. Layne Reed is played by Sophie Pollono who did not want to go off her schedule. She lives by her schedule before she meets VIN, the talking car with her friend Zora. VIN is like KIT; the car in Knight Rider who helped Michael fight bad guys. VIN is supposed to be a rescue vehicle who helps people and is a secret project for the military. There are bad people that want VIN and want to turn him into a weapon. Mel, her cousin caught Layne in the car, and he is smart, and knows something is not right.
Layne Reed is running for President for her middle school and her opponent is Jasper. Jasper is one that you would call a tough opponent and he is a troublemaker, but as the show shows there is more to Jasper than one would think. Layne thought he stole her locker, but it turns out to be the people that want to turn VIN into a weapon. They stole her locker because they wanted to get a piece of DNA off her hairbrush. As the female scientist told the man who was helping her to steal VIN, all she would need is her hairbrush. This makes sense as your hair does hold your DNA. A good example would be in the 1990’s Spider-Man cartoon show would also have explained this. In the episode when Miles Warren cloned Hydro Man; he also cloned Mary Jane Watson. Miles Warren would have taken a piece of her hair off her hairbrush. This is after Mary Jane Watson disappeared.
The military in this series wants to scrap VIN as they felt he was a disappointment, but thanks to Mel who lets his cousin Layne Reed know this. She races to action in the middle of her campaign speech and goes to rescue VIN along with her friend Zora. Cody, who is the mechanic, is a huge help for Layne Reed in helping to keep the car repaired and helping Layne know there is no one tougher than you. When Layne had to rescue Mel and Zora from being down a cliff, she sprinted into action and did not think anything about it. Cody let her know that there is no one brave enough to do what you did.
Layne Reed will grow in this show, and she realizes that her life cannot be determined by her schedule. She learns to go with the flow of life. With the help of VIN, Zora, Mel, and Cody, Layne learns to do that. The right thing to do is to be there for those you care about and do what you can to help them. Layne learns to do that and not worry about how life will go.
As not to be revealed, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of this series.
I will give you, my rating. I give Fast Layne Season 1, a 10 out of 10. It was fun but does an excellent job of telling a delightful story. It helps the viewer to understand how Layne must go through certain challenges, but she produces an answer and with the help of Zora, Cody, and Mel, she gets the job done. She and Jasper also learn to work together. This show has only 8 episodes and they call each episode a mile. The show ends with a cliffhanger, and it is too bad they have not made Season 2. There are questions that need to be answered, but this story is good, because it does not make it simple.
