Doctor Strange agrees to take America Chavez with them to Nepal to the temple to keep her safe with the help of Wong. Wong became sorcerer supreme when Doctor Strange was dusted from Thanos. America thought it to be strange that Doctor Strange did not become sorcerer supreme. She jokes before they went to Nepal in New York City as they told her it is not their first time with dealing with the Multiverse. Doctor Strange and Wong told her that they had to deal with the multiverse with Spider-Man. As was shown in Spider-Man: No Way Home which I have reviewed on this channel, Spider-Man brought all the villains that were in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s universes. It was where those villains came from 2 universes. America asked, does his webs come from his butt? No, it does not. Spider-Man is a man that happens to have spider powers.
The movie progresses and the viewer meets Wanda and what she is wearing reminds me of the show Wanda Vision. She was wearing an outfit that she had on when she was in Westview, New Jersey. She wanted access to America Chavez as she knew she could take her to Wanda in that universe that has her kids. Doctor Strange thought that he could trust Wanda, but later finds out that she sent the creature that attacked America Chavez. America Chavez is also known as Miss America. Doctor Strange realizes that he made a mistake in going to Wanda that he thought he could trust her, but she wants America to take her to her kids in the other universe.
Doctor Strange along with Wong realize they must protect America Chavez from Wanda. Wanda later attacks them as Scarlet Witch. Yes, Scarlet Witch is wearing the outfit that she wore when she wore in the comics. It is vintage Scarlet Witch, and it is great. They have a tough time keeping her from getting to America Chavez. America Chavez takes Doctor Strange to another universe. In one of the universes, they get animated. They get to the universe where they run into Bruce Campbell as a hot dog vendor.
In every Sam Rami movie, Bruce Campbell has made an appearance. He has been in all the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. It was believed that in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man universe, he was going to be that version of Mysterio. That is only a theory and not a fact, since Spider-Man 4 has not come out. It might be now. To me, I would have Marvel Studios help with that and that would be great. Marvel knows what they are doing as I told you in the review of Spider-Man: No Way Home that movie was fun, but it connected the stories in the way they needed to be.
The hot dog vendor played by Bruce Campbell starts hitting himself and he cannot stop hitting himself. As Doctor Strange told America Chavez, he will be hitting himself for three weeks. It is a spell that cannot stop it. America thought they did not need to pay in that universe, but she was wrong. Doctor Strange put that spell on him to protect her from that mistake. It was an honest mistake since she was a multi universe traveler. They later meet Baron Modro. Baron puts tea in front of them and that tea was drugged as it caused them to pass out. America Chavez is put in test tube by Christine. Doctor Strange wears handcuffs that inhibit his powers. He is told by the Illuminati that Doctor Strange in this universe was dangerous and had to be stopped.
The Illuminati consists of Professor X, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, Black Bolt, and Baron Modro. They are going to imprison Doctor Strange. Yes, as I would have told you in Ms. Marvel Season 1 Episode 6 Review, Professor X is using the yellow chair that has been seen in the 1990’s X-MEN cartoon show. It really felt right. In the movies, they had him in a wheelchair. Black Bolt wore the costume that was in the comics as well.
Wanda as Scarlet Witch shows up and she takes over Wanda in that universe. She kills all the Illuminati. Baron Modro is the only one to survive. As Doctor Strange later tells him, I need to get out to stop her. The blood on her clothes reminds me of the movie Carrie. I will have two images come up and you can tell from what Elizabeth Olsen looks like here in this picture and what Chloe Grace Moretz looks like in this picture. This ties in Sam Raimi’s horror roots as he directed Evil Dead and has done plenty of horror films over the years.
As not to be revealed anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of the movie and will set up other stories in the MCU. It pulls from episodes from the TV Show What If that was a multiverse show that showed the different universes. It will have Doctor Strange as Zombie strange where that is the episode that Spider-Man wore the Doctor Strange cape as he was worthy to wear it. Doctor Strange will find a way to defeat Scarlet Witch. It mentions the Dark Hold which has been referenced in Agents of Shield which is now available to watch on Disney+. I am not sure which season it has, so watch all the episodes to see which one does.
I will now give you, my rating. I give Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, a 10 out 10. It was fun and did an excellent job of connecting to the other movies. It does an excellent job of mixing horror with the superhero in this film. This is like Moon Knight as it mixes horror with superheroes. I am not a fan of horror, but I like it in this case as I did in Moon Knight. This movie moved better than the first Doctor Strange. The first Doctor Strange was good, but I thought this movie does a better job of pulling the viewer in the film from the beginning and just keeps the viewer engaged till the end no matter what happens in the film. Wanda wanting her children made like a mother bear going after her cubs and you do not want to mess with a mother who is looking for her children. It does an excellent job of pulling from Spider-Man: No Way Home but had its own unique story. I cannot wait to see Secret Wars down the road which will deal with the Multiverse crisis. I liked seeing references from Wanda Vision and What If. It was cool to see a live Captain Carter. I liked seeing a Black Captain Marvel. Professor X in the yellow chair is what it is supposed to be like from the 1990’s X-MEN cartoon show. Black Bolt in his costume was completely accurate to the comics and what I have seen on cartoon shows on Disney+. I will leave a link for you to watch these shows at the bottom of this video.
