DCOM Dad Napped Review and Analysis on Disney+

Blog and Video Description: In this video or blog post, I will be reviewing and analyzing Dad Napped, a DCOM movie that is on Disney+. I will be going over several topics in this review. I will let you know my rating at the end of this video. Now on with the review. Why am I reviewing a DCOM movie? Just like I told you in my Shook review and Alley Cats Strikes review, these are quality movies. This movie is no different in that it is a quality movie. Dad Napped came out in 2008 on Disney Channel. The movie starts off with Melissa Morris played by Emily Osment who has been in the Hannah Montana series and the movie based on the series. It starts off the music, there is a hero in me. She sees Tripp Zoom wherever she goes. She is packing her bag getting ready for her trip. She is at school in her English class, when a kid says I just got the new Tripp Zoom book called Freeze Dried Dreams. She says, is this a joke? The teacher agrees, is this a joke? The kid tells the teacher, my dad has a friend that works at the paper company that has the paper that goes in the book. He was able to get an advanced copy of the book before its release. As the teacher says, read on. He reads it and everyone in the class including the teacher is tuned in to every word the kid says. They are enjoying it. The teacher says this is going to be another literary masterpiece by Neal Morris, the father of our very own Melissa Morris. As Melissa says once the class ends, you just must write another one, don’t you dad? If you want to know more about this, you want to read this blog or watch the video included in this blog.

Hello everyone, this is Matthew Hemenway. Have I got a review for you? In this video, I will be reviewing and analyzing Dad Napped, a DCOM movie that is on Disney+.

Melissa gets home and, on the TV, she sees an ad for Tripp Zoom’s new book Freeze Dried Dreams. The ad says it is triphasic. Melissa says, oh please. Tripp says, I like that line. Melissa says of course you do because it is all about you. Her mom says, who are you talking to? Melissa says no one. Melissa tells her mom that she is excited for her trip. Melissa tells her mother, "Are you okay with this”? Her mother says we may be divorced, but I want you to spend as much time as possible.

Melissa and her father go on their trip after he comes to pick her up from the house. Melissa says, you do not have to do this. Neal, her father tells her, what father does not want to go on vacation with his own daughter? As her father tells her, I need to go to Mercury. These are my grass root fans; I may never get to meet them unless I go to the Zoom convention. It was a pitstop as her father calls it. Melissa is ready to go camping as she bought extra bug spray.

Melissa and her father stayed at the Merc and were put in the presidential suite of the hotel. The room is average and there is nothing to write home about. It is not a luxury room. Forget luxury, it even is not a room that is of decent quality.

Later the viewer gets to the convention and Melissa is seeing people dress in these crazy costumes. This convention is like any comic book convention, a good example would by San Diego comic con. She decides to go to her room. The contest the fans are competing for “Are you Zoom enough”?

Melissa’s father promises her that they will be out of there by noon. It is 1 PM and no such luck. Neal, Melissa’s father, is judging the contestants. Later, Neal gets taken by a bunch of kids in a van that says Zoom on it. These kids are big fans that want to win the competition.

This leads the viewer to several scenarios to where Melissa must find a way to rescue her father. She gets help from a person who is helping her, but he does not. Two of the people that were at the convention are also after the kids that took Neal Morris to win the contest. The contestants get a chance to be in Neal Morris’ next book. There is a line in the movie that is good to live by, if you do not even try, then you will just wonder why. That to me is an effective way to live.

As not to be revealed anymore, nothing more will be revealed here. It does bring the viewer to the climax of the story. The movie has twists and turns. Just when the viewer thinks they know who the ultimate villain is, he/she does not. It does an excellent job of not having it be predictable. That is good storytelling.

I give Dad Napped, a 10 out 10. As said before, the movie is not predictable. It is fun, but it shows how smart Melissa is. She is quick on her feet and does not let fear determine her actions. For a 15-year-old, she keeps her cool and does not let her emotions get in the way. Thank you for reading.
